Interface Overview (Signal-Flow Studio)

The NoiseWave window adopts the original Signal-Flow Studio architecture divided into 4 permanently accessible horizontal tiers, engineered to follow the natural left-to-right signal flow without hidden menus, styled with the Spectral Luxe color system built on Dark Velvet Obsidian-Plum (#16121C) display cavities, Matte Graphite (#1E1B24 / #322F3C) chassis surfaces, translucent multi-color curves with a Master Yellow-Gold Trace (#F5B82E), and glowing white-ringed circular nodes (#FFFFFF):

WAVE A: Orchid Magenta (#C832E8) fill + Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E) contour
WAVE B: Cobalt Blue (#2E90FA) fill + Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E) contour
WAVE C: Indigo Violet (#7C4DFF) fill + Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E) contour
SUB CORE & TEXTURE: Emerald Teal (#14B8A6) + Gold readouts
FILTER 1 / 2: Smoke spectrum + Magenta/Cobalt bands + Gold Bode curve
Inactive State: Unified Slate-Grey (#6E7484) when any module is bypassed
  • ENV 1..4: Translucent Cobalt Blue (#2E90FA) fill with Indigo Violet (#7C4DFF) secondary harmonic layer, white-ringed circular nodes, and time/level readouts (ms / s / dB) in Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E).
  • CYCLE 1..6: Translucent Emerald Teal (#14B8A6) fill with Smoothed/Phase trace and RATE readouts in Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E) and white-ringed circular nodes.
  • VELO / KEY & PERFORM MACROS (1-8): Dynamic response curve and Macro rings in Indigo Violet (#7C4DFF) with tension node in Yellow-Gold (#F5B82E).
  • Extended Piano Keyboard (x = 166..1188): White keys with Classic Silver/White gradient (#E6EBF0 → #B8C0C8), #14171A black keys, and active played notes illuminated in Orchid Magenta (#C832E8).
  • Unified Slate-Grey Inactive State (#6E7484 / #7C8292) Across All Graphs & Controls: Whenever any oscillator (WAVE A, WAVE B, WAVE C, SUB CORE, TEXTURE), filter (FILTER 1 / 2), effects rack unit (FX), band or master equalizer (EQ), mixer channel (CONSOLE), modulation slot (PATCH), SEQ ROLL, or ARP GEN is bypassed/turned off, both its graph/waveform/curve and its knobs, nodes, routing badges, and numeric readouts automatically turn slate grey, lighting back up in full Spectral Luxe colors as soon as the module is re-enabled.

Using Controls (Mouse, Shortcuts & Modulations)

Using Rotary Knobs

  • Adjustment: Click and drag upward to increase the value or downward to decrease it. You can also use the mouse wheel while hovering over any knob.
  • Reset to Default Value: Double-Click any knob or fader to immediately reset it to its default factory position.

Using Numeric Readout Boxes & Anchored Dropdown Menus (Spectral Luxe Dropdowns)

All boxes displaying numbers or text labels (such as OCT, SEM, FIN, DRIFT, STACK, TWIST 1/2, SLICE, PHASE, RAND, routing destinations F1/M/B1, CYCLE 1..6 rate, PATCH sources/destinations, or ARP GEN and SEQ ROLL parameters) work in two ways:

  1. Fast Vertical Dragging: Click on the readout box and drag up or down to quickly step through numbers or cycle through modes.
  2. Single Click — Anchored Dropdown Menus (Toggle Open/Close):
    • Single-click any selector featuring a chevron arrow (▾) — such as the Preset Browser, MENU button, WAVETABLE selector or WAVE A/B/C engine mode, TWIST 1/2 selectors, FILTER 1/2 model, TEXTURE type, routing badges (F1, M, B1, B2, DIR), and selectors on the PATCH, FX, EQ, ARP GEN, SEQ ROLL, CYCLE, and TONE / SCALE bars — to open a Dropdown Menu anchored directly below the clicked control.
    • Quick Toggle Close: While a dropdown menu is open, the button's chevron flips upward (▴) and its border glows in Cobalt Blue (#2E90FA); clicking the same dropdown button again (or clicking anywhere outside the menu) immediately closes the menu without reopening it.
  3. Double-Click: Resets the numeric value to zero or default.

Assigning & Adjusting Modulations (Drag & Drop ∩)

In NoiseWave you can animate almost any synth or effect knob using Envelopes (ENV 1..4), Cyclic Modulators (CYCLE 1..8), or Perform Macros (M1 MORPH .. M8 FX MIX):

  1. Connecting a Modulator (Hold for at least 150 ms):
    • A quick click (under 150 ms) on an ENV 1..4, CYCLE 1..6, VELO, KEY tab or on the ∩ badge of a MACRO 1..8 / MOD simply selects that tab (and arms the modulator) without spawning a drag wire.
    • Press and hold the mouse button for at least 150 ms on a modulator tab or ∩ symbol: the modulation cable appears with the label "(Drop on a Knob)".
    • Drag the wire onto any target knob (which highlights on hover) and release the mouse button to complete the assignment.
  2. Adjusting Modulation Depth: Once a modulation is assigned, a small circular ∩ badge lights up at the top-left of the target knob. Click and drag vertically on that small ∩ circle to increase, reduce, or invert (negative depth) the cyan modulation arc around the knob.
  3. Switching Between Unipolar & Bipolar Mode (Right-Click):
    • Right-Click the modulated knob (or its ∩ badge) to open the modulation context menu (MODULATE: ...):
    • Mode 1: Unipolar (One-way ->): The parameter starts from the knob's current value and moves in a single direction.
    • Mode 2: Bipolar (Two-way <->): The parameter swings symmetrically both left and right around the knob's center position (indicated by a bright dot inside the ∩ icon).
    • From the same menu you can also assign the currently armed modulator (Assign armed source) or clear modulations from that knob (Remove Modulations from this Knob).

DAW Parameter Control, Ableton Live Configure Mode & Automation

  1. 1-Click Addition in Ableton Live (Configure): Enable Configure (turns green) in Ableton Live's device header, then single-click any knob, mixer fader, numeric box, On/Off button, or interactive graph node (ADSR envelopes, filter Bode plot, Master EQ nodes) inside NoiseWave. The parameter immediately appears in Ableton Live's device parameter list.
  2. Bi-Directional Real-Time Automation: Moving controls inside NoiseWave while recording automation in your DAW (Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Cubase, FL Studio, Reaper, Bitwig) accurately records parameter curves with automatic touch begin/end gestures, and external DAW automation updates NoiseWave's UI in real time.

Saving User Presets & Creating / Sharing Preset Packs (.nwpreset & .nwpack)
  1. Click the floppy disk icon (SAVE) next to the preset name, or open MENU → "Save Current Preset / Manage Packs...".
  2. Enter PRESET NAME, choose a PACK (FOLDER) (or select + Create New Pack...), select one of the 8 CATEGORY families, and fill in AUTHOR (ARTIST) and DESCRIPTION.
  3. Click SAVE TO PACK to store the patch in Documents/NoiseWave Presets/Packs/<Pack Name>/.
  4. Use EXPORT .NWPRESET... for single files, EXPORT PACK (.NWPACK)... to bundle an entire soundbank, or IMPORT PACK / PRESET... to install external packs.
